Pete's Blog: Super Bowl XLV from Ozzie's: Fourth Quarter and Post-game

Live blog from Ozzie's, where Pittsburgh fans are converging to watch the big game.

-That Rashard Mendenhall fumble is a huge blow to momentum, and “Go Pack Go” fills the air waves again. This game is unbelievably tense. Biggest stage, and one quarter to go. Aaron Rodgers needs to ask himself, WWTBD? Better known in New England as, What would Tom Brady do?

-Aaron Rodgers officially answered the call, shaking off some bad throws to throw a strike to Jordy Nelson, who gets inside the five yard line. Do or die time for Steelers, they need to hold Green Bay to a field goal.

-And they don’t. Touchdown Greg Jennings, that could be the game. The fans downstairs are going through beers at a rapid rate following that score. Same story upstairs, but the beers are a product of nervous energy. Either way, Ozzie’s wins.

-Pittsburgh’s drive following the TD needs to end in points or kiss this game goodbye. Something tells me it will, and we could see a last drive for all the marbles.

-What a game! Pittsburgh touchdown and two point conversion to make it a three point game. Ear drums just popped upstairs, and the air has been knocked out of Green Bay again.  Turning into an iconic game.

-That was a dagger of a first down from Rodgers to Jennings on third and ten. The defense chant was going so loud, and the catch just sucker punched the upstairs in the gut. Game is coming down to the wire, and every play is huge.

-Sue, a transplant from England, is one of the biggest Steeler fans in the room. She moved to the USA 33 years ago, and lived 80 miles from Pittsburgh in West Virginia, but now makes her home now in Ballwin. “I live for this team!” She screamed.

-Inside the ten yard line, a touchdown and this game is over. A field goal, and we could be seeing this last Steeler drive for many years to come on highlight reels, regardless of outcome. Such an exciting game.

-Field Goal is good. Roethlisberger has a chance to join an elite group with three Super Bowl wins with what would be an career defining comeback.

-Fourth and five for Pittsburgh…and it's dropped! This game is over. Green Bay wins in memorable fashion. I made the quickest possible escape from that upstairs, what a devastated group of fans. Some Packer fans went up to celebrate and gloat, but quickly realized the scene was not conducive to that. Smart move, could have been ugly.

-Good for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Finally left the shadow of Brett Favre in the past, and he has made himself an elite QB; an MVP well-deserved. Bravo to the Steelers on a great season.

-Thanks to Roberto and the crew here at Ozzie’s, they did a fantastic job, and the whole night went off without a hitch.  Both sets of fans were classy, passionate and fun to watch a game with. Downtown STL is the place to watch sports in this area, and Ozzie's is the center of the action.
