MVP Week 8: Landslide Winner, Peter Schnuck, Wide Receiver, John Burroughs Football

Senior wideout leads the undefeated Bombers with 16 catches for 325 yards and five receiving touchdowns this season.

Peter Schnuck, the former quarterback-turned-wide receiver for the No. 1-ranked team in Missouri Class 3 football, had perhaps his best game of the season two Fridays ago, when he caught four passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns in John Burroughs' 56-0 romp over Clayton.

And this week, the 6'1, 175-pound senior earned another big win, as he cruised to victory in the Ladue-Frontenac Patch Week 8 MVP voting, easily topping other solid candidates Anna Nelson of Ladue cross country, Cooper Hudspeth of Villa Duchesne field hockey, and Klasey Medelberg of MICDS cross country.

Here's just a little bit of what we found out about this week's MVP, Peter Schnuck of John Burroughs football:

As a senior, who will graduate next spring, have you selected a college yet? No. EDITOR'S NOTE: Peter is being recruited by several top colleges, and like most highly sought after players, he has not yet decided where (or even if) he will attend school and play ball next year.

How is your season going?

We just wrapped up our undefeated regular season this friday, beating Maplewood 34-6. We've gotten better as a team every single week, especially the last two. Maplewood and Clayton were two of the better teams we have played and we held them to a combined 6 points. Our offense is more publicized, but our defense might be the strongest part of our team. We're looking forward to continuing our season into the playoffs.

Personally, I am one of our leading receivers and scorers on offense, and I lead the team in interceptions on defense.

What is the favorite thing you like about being on your team?

My favorite things about my Bomber football team are our heart as a team and how close we are. We have a pretty small team in both size and number but we are able to be successful because of how hard we work every day. We also are a family that loves playing with each other. Every practice and game, we work very hard, but we always have a good time doing it.

Comment on any special accomplishments this season so far.

Finishing a season undefeated is always very special, and doing that while allowing less than 10 points a game on defense is even more amazing. For my senior class, beating MICDS for the second time in 3 years and shutting out Clayton on senior day were two of the many great highlights of the year.

What is the favorite tune in your I-Pod?

Superstar by Lupe Fiasco. It's the first song I play after every win.
