MICDS Holiday Tournament Brackets Announced, Ladue Top Seed On Boys Side, Westminster No. 1 In Girls
Game action will begin next weekend, with the girls' opening round set for Friday, December 21, and the boys' getting started the next day. Both tourney finals will be played on December 29.
The MICDS Athletics Department released its official game brackets for the 2012 MICDS Boys and Girls Holiday Invitational Tournaments Saturday morning.
And to no one's surprise, the top seeds went to the highly-ranked squads from Ladue High (boys) and Westminster Christian Academy (girls).
The Rams, who are ranked No. 8 in this week's Large School Boys Top 20 poll, with a game pending today at Lindenwood University, against Chatham Glenwood in the Terrell Ramey/Midwest Showdown Shootout, will begin MICDS Tournament play next Saturday, December 22, with a 9:30 a.m. game against No. 16 seed Francis Howell.

The Westminster Christian girls, the No. 6-ranked team in this week's Small School girls Top 20, will play the opening game of the entire weekend, on Friday, with a matchup against No. 8 seed Triad (IL) at 4 p.m.

consolation championship on December 28, are (2) MICDS, (3) Parkway Central, (4) Francis Howell, (5) Oakville, (6) Villa Duchesne, and (7) Clayton.
On the boys side, 16 teams will battle for what is quickly becoming one of the area's more prestigious holiday break basketball tournament titles, beginning with a veritable hoops marathon of eight back-to-back games on December 22.
After that Ladue-Francis Howell game begins the action next Saturday, (8) St. Charles will play (9) Clayton, followed by (4) Duchesne versus (13) Brentwood; (5) Lutheran North against (12) Parkway South; (2) SLUH versus (15) Trinity Catholic; (7) Miller Career Academy against (10) St. Mary's; (3) Westminster Christian versus (14) MICDS; and the day's final game (6) Parkway Central against (11) Whitfield.
The boys' first round winners will advance to the quarterfinals on Wednesday, December 26, with the semifinals and finals scheduled for Friday, December 28, and Saturday, December 29, respectively.
