We are live at Lester’s Sports Bar and Grill in Ladue. The game just started. We are posting our trip to Kiener Plaza right now.

A hush fell over the crowd and the TV’s briefly went out. They were quickly reset.

Second Inning

At the bottom of the second, the game was still 0-0. The defense on both sides were battling it out. The tension is so thick, you could cut it with one of Lester's steak knives.

Hannah Thielemier said about the Cardinals, "They started off strong. I think they will do well." Chris Piekutowski agreed.

Third Inning

The crowd is packed in Lester's bar like a bunch of sardines. It is standing room only. Crawford Murton of Pittsburgh, Pa said, "I am completely blown away by the fandom in St. Louis." His friend Pam Johnson agreed, "The whole city is on fire." She said she wanted to get out among the fans and cheer the Cards on. "I wasn't about to stay home. I wanted to be out where the action is," Said Johnson. She lives in Ladue only a few blocks from Lester's.

Fourth Inning

Bottom of the fourth, Lance Berkman drove in two with a double into the right field corner. The crowd erupts. There were no Rangers fans to be found on the premises. If they were, they must have left.

Sixth Inning

Between the fifth and sixth innings we traveled from Lester's in Ladue to Fallon's Bar and Grill in Olivette at the Shoppes at Price Crossing. In the 15 minutes of travel time, the Rangers managed to tie the game 2-2. Allen Craig hit a dying single to right field scoring Layfayette's David Freese for a 3-2 lead. The large crowd in the bar at Fallon's were on their feet all at the same time.

A Ranger player flew up to centerfield for the last play of the inning and caught a fly ball.

Seventh Inning

At the end of the seventh inning the Cards lead 3-2.

We caught up with Greg Yawitz, owner of the Shoppes at Price Crossing. He said, "The only place I watch the Cardinals games is at home or at Fallon's and not because I own the building, but because it is a relaxing atmosphere and they serve Guiness."

Fallon's customers, Jennifer Antle and Ellen Vanderwal have been at Fallon's since the beginning of the game. Vanderwal observed, "It's been a pitcher's dual. Now it will be up to the Card's bullpen. They will have to keep the Rangers from scoring." Antle and Vanderwal bought tickets to the sixth game which will be played at the Cards home field. They hope the series continues so they get to see that game.

Ninth Inning

Star reliever Jason Motte comes in and mows down the Rangers 1-2-3. Cheers erupp all over Fallon's. Owner Chris Whitworth is pleased. Another celebratory round of drinks ane everyone goes home happy with a 3-2 win.

Game 2 is less than 24 hours away.
