Ladue Homecoming 2012: To Be Celebrated in Grand Style

Ladue Horton Watkins Homecoming 2012  weekend should be quite the event. Forecasts call for clear skies and 70 degrees.

It will definitely be a special weekend for the classes of 1962, ’72 and ’82 as graduates come back for their reunions.

More than half of of the class of 1962 have signed up for the reunion. That includes a pool side party Friday night at the MAC West; introduction at halftime of the football game Saturday with Normandy, a dinner-dance Saturday night at Algonquin Country Club and a send off brunch Sunday at Maryland Walk condos in Clayton. Celebrating a 50th reunion for the class of 1962 takes on special meaning.

On Friday night, Ladue will recognize its second group of distinguished alumni. They will be honored in an event in the new performance center at the high school starting at 7 p.m. The distinguished alumni will take a bow at halftime of the football game, along with the reunion groups.

Prior to kickoff to the football game Saturday, Ladue students will have a parade traveling from the Middle School down Conway Road to the high school. This is a revival of an old time tradition. The distinguished alumni will join that parade and everyone will be welcomed by the pep band and a barbecue luncheon.

The prom court will be introduced at halftime of the game, and there will be a home coming dance for the students in the Nielson Gym Saturday night. The homecoming dance runs 8-11 p.m. The king and queen will be announced at 10 p.m.

Parking will be at a premium at the high school all weekend. Spaces will be available at Conway School and Ladue Middle School. Conway Road will be shut to vehicular traffic during the brief parade. Students went door to door recently in that area, advising residents of the brief street closure.

Friday,Sept. 21

• Distinguished Alumni celebration at the high school

• Class of 1962 pool side party at MAC West

Saturday, Sept. 22

• Parade down Conway at 11 a.m.

• Football game versus Normandy Vikings 1 p.m.

• Introduction of the Prom Court, Distinguished Alumni and reunions for the classes of 1962-72-82.

• Class of 1962 dinner dance at Algonquin Country Club 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 23

• Send off brunch for the class of 1962, Maryland Walk Condos, 10 a.m.
