Recognizing the best athletes right in our own back yards.

This is week 2 of nominees for local “Most Valuable Player” in the Ladue-Frontenac Patch. That means our winner, each week must come from one of the five schools:  John Burroughs, Ladue, MICDS, Villa Duchesne or St. Joseph’s Academy.

Third baseman Trey Baur, sophomore at MICDS was our first winner.

Nominations are open until 5 p.m. Tuesday. Anyone can nominate any athlete. This is your Patch. Go for it.

We have some suggestions:

Speed merchants on the track: Ezekiel Elliott of Burroughs, and Jehu Chesson of Ladue.

On the baseball front, we recommend Greg Gannon from Ladue.

Moving to soccer, we have two local choices: Megan Hillerman of Villa Duchesne and Caroline Militello from MICDS.

The water polo nominee is Forest Donnell of Ladue.

In lacrosse, our suggestion is Katie Prosperi from St. Joseph’s Academy. Feel free to add to the list. The four names most nominated will make up Wednesday’s all-Patch ballot. Everyone can vote.

Voting goes through Thursday at 5 p.m. and the winner is announced Saturday morning.
