Burroughs Soccer Primed and Ready to Go

Burroughs soccer coach Alan Trzecki knows a thing or two about soccer. He runs both the boys and girls programs.

Looking at this year’s version of the Bombers. he knows he has some holes to fill. He graduated six senior; three of whom started in 2011 but none are playing in college.

Gone is goal keeper Alex Spencer who logged 1,380 minutes on defense, had a personal record of 14-9 and a stingy goals allowed per average of 0.786.

Also graduated is Houston Sudekum who led the Bombers in scoring with 12 goals, 12 assists for 36 points.

The defense will be built around junior Joe Renner, first team all state, all region and a Metro League all star. Francisco Sanchez was selected fist team all state, all region and Metro League.

Other prominent players include: Junior midfielder Stephen McMillian (5 goals, 2, assists, 12 points), and Cole Warner, a first team all region player and a second team all league performer.

The Bombers seek additional help from three seniors: J.R. Latta, defender; Danny Nightingale, defender, Ty Trzecki, midfielder and junior forward Ryan Keeney.

“In early September we should know how competitive we will be in Class 1 with games against Whitfield, St.Pius, Pembroke Hill and Southern Boone.

We start each year with the idea of playing attractive attacking soccer. Our goal is to play with discipline and organization and compete with every team on our schedule. Our goal is making a deep run into the post-season tournament,” said Trzecki.

The Bombers open the season Tuesday, August 28 versus Ladue in the MICDS tournament. They face some steep challenges against bigger, powerful teams, DeSmet and Chaminade, and small school chart dominators St. Mary’s and Priory.
