Area Soccer Players Shine in Missouri Cup

MICDS' Caroline Militello scores lone goal in U-16 championship game.

Caroline Militello scored a number of key goals this season for the MICDS soccer team.

The freshman led the Rams, who finished with a 15-8 record, in scoring with 10 goals.

But no goal in the high school season matched the importance of the tally which Militello scored Thursday for her JB Marine Mipke club team. It proved to be the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory over KC Select Viati in the championship game of the Missouri Cup at the St. Louis Youth Soccer Association Complex.

Emily Cline of Springfield Glendale scored the only goal of the game for the Scott Gallagher Green Academy team in its win over Scott Gallagher Blue at the Scott Gallagher Complex.

Lindsey Calhoun, Abbey Stock, Jessica Kelley, Lauren Flynn and Tori Flynn all played on the Green Academy team.

The Scott Gallagher Navy team was also well-represented by St. Joe's players as Allie Dressel, Monica Hewitt, Michelle Schwarz and Claire Champion played on that squad.

The Green Academy team also advanced to regional play in Wisconsin later this month. The winners of the Regional 2 Tournament move on to the national championships which will be played in Phoenix from July 26-31.
