2010 A Banner Year For Area Athletes

The year featured a number of state champions, including three on one day.

Some call the current calendar year two thousand ten while others call it twenty ten.

Either way it was a memorable year for area athletes and teams who compiled numerous state championships, including three on one memorable November day.

It was a challenge to cut the list to 10 since there were so many great accomplishments throughout the year.

It shows how special a year that it was that a moment like a 1-0 win by the St. Joseph's softball team in the state quarterfinals over a 28-3 Troy team to advance to their first final four did not make the list.

But here are 10 moments which stand out in a year full of highlights.
