Villa, Lafayette Head the Field in Field Hockey Quarterfinals Tuesday

Top area teams in action in Midwest championships at AB Soccer Park in Fenton.

Look for an in-depth profile later today of the local teams in the Midwest Field Hockey Quarterfinals all playing tomorrow at the AB Soccer Park in Fenton.

At 2:30 p.m. in one game the top seed in the tournament Cor Jesu (17-2) takes on rival Ursuline Academy (11-14) at 2:30 p.m.

Also at 2:30 p.m., high-flying Villa Duchesne (20-3) meets rival MICDS (10-13). Villa is No. 2 seed in the tournament; the Rams are No. 10.

At 3:45 p.m., No. 4 Burroughs (14-5) takes on Nerinx Hall, the five seed at 18-7. Burroughs won the Midwest title last year, beating their arch rival MICDS 3-1.

The other 3:45 p.m. game features a pair of public schools, No. 3 seed Lafayette (18-1) and No. 6 seed Ladue (18-6). This will be a battle of high scoring stars, junior Katie Barber of Lafayette who leads the metro with 76 points and Ladue's Elise Pellett with 56 points.
