Villa Duchesne Wins WYSE Academic Challenge

Team Advances to Sectionals in Small School Division

Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School is advancing to sectionals in the 2013 Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Academic Challenge. The Villa Duchesne team placed first in the regional challenge for the Small School division. The WYSE Academic Challenge is a competitive series of multiple-choice tests in seven subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering Graphics, English, Mathematics, and Physics.

In addition to their success as a team, three members were recently named National Merit Finalists. Meghan Grojean, Megan Pohl, and Catherine Wagner placed in the top one percent of the more than 1.5 million students who take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. And, Victoria Ip just received a Distinguished Achievement Award for Excellence in Science presented by the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Arts and Sciences.
