Villa Duchesne Golfers Take Third at State

Saints only one of eight final teams to improve scores on final day.

A year ago, the Villa Duchesne golf team captured the state title. This year, they brought home the third-place plaque from the Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar, MO.

Linda Potter, their coach pointed to the improvement of the entire squad. "It was a thrill to do that," she told Greg Uptain of STL.Today.

The team trophy went to the girls of Westminster Christian Academy. Westminster went undefeated for the year, firing off a low of 340 in the second round of play in Southwest Missouri.

Junior Brooke Cusumano fired rounds of 80 and 84 for a two stroke victory over Megan Keck of Cole Camp for the individual title.

Villa Duchesne had a team score of 378, good enough for third place in the championships.

Individually, John Burroughs freshman Logan Otter shot 85-90 for a ninth place tie with MICDS senior Cambell Torchin (89-86) and MICDS junior Darby Hobbs shot 86-92 for 15th place.
