Undefeated St. Joe Tennis Team Guns For Their 15th Class 2 Team Title

Angels top players will battle for the gold in Springfield this weekend.

There is no doubt the St. Joe Angels have dominated team tennis in the state championships. The Angels have won 14 state titles, doubling their closest competitor in Class 2.

Doug Smith's undefeated Angels will go for their 15th team title in Springfield this weekend. The Angels finished the regular season with a perfect 16-0 record; beating Ladue 5-0 for the sectional title and Lafayette 5-0 to propel them to the final round.

The Angels last team championship came in 2008. Representing the team in doubles play will be Taylor Revling and Ellie Bisig and Grace Hyde and Ellie Helton.

St. Joe’s Olivia Conway fell a bit short of reaching the singles championships, dropping a tough 3-set match to Kirkwood’s Bridget Mayfield.

When St. Joe won the title in 2008, that was their fifth-consecutive Class 2 team title in a row.

Good luck to the Angels undefeated tennis team.
