Schools

The Motto is: "Not I, But We"

St. Joe's supporters came together to raise money for the school.

On February 26, supporters of  gathered for the school's annual auction night, which was co-chaired by parents Ann DeWoskin, Julie Huber and Julie Meersman.

The evening brought hundreds of parents, teachers and other community members together, which reinforced St. Joe's motto: "Not I, but we." The festivities started with a mass at 4:30, followed by the start of the silent auction and cocktails at 5:30.

The theme of the night was "An Evening in Paradise with the Angels," which lent the way for tropical decor and dress. Leis and tropical shirts were in abundance, and the lobby at St. Joe's was incredibly decorated. The entryway was made to make guests feel like they were going on a tropical getaway, complete with surf boards and a beach lounge chair.

"We wanted something fun and a little more casual this year," said DeWoskin. "This is the first year we've had a band."

The Hula Poppers played later in the evening, but to get guests in a festive mood, they had steel drummer Lenny Frisch playing in the lobby for the first hour and a half of the event.

Also circulating the lobby were a few of the 200 student volunteers working at the event, showing off a couple of the adorable puppies that were up for auction.

"We have a record number of kids this year," DeWoskin said of the volunteers.

The student volunteers also kept things moving in the gymnasium, which hosted the dinner and most of the auction items. Before dinner, the attendees enjoyed cocktails served in plastic coconut shells and placed bids on the hundreds of items available in the silent auction.

In addition to the puppies, several great items were available in the auction, including gift baskets, tickets to sporting and arts events, a signed jersey from St. Louis Ram Sam Bradford and gift certificates to local businesses. More information about the auction and the items that were included can be found on the official auction website.
