The Ladue School District has schedule public engagment sessions February 29 and March 5 in order to inform residents about the needs of Prop 1, a $.49 increase in the tax levy. The election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 3. Ladue has not had a tax increase in 29 years.
District officials will explain why the request is being made, what will be the cost to taxpayers and the impact should it not pass.
Because of the severe economic downturn, the Ladue School District has lost nine percent of its operating funds.
If the tax hike fails, there will have to be severe cuts to the budget.
The events, free and open to the public, both at 7 p.m. will include round table discussions and smaller break out sessions.
