SingFest: The Halls Were Alive With the Sounds of Music

Third annual Ladue District Choral Festival a splendid performance all the way around.

One thing that can bond the Ladue School District together is a love of singing. For the third consecutive year, the halls were alive with music as hundreds of choral participants strutted their stuff at the annual Ladue School District Choral Festival.

There were hardly enough seats to accommodate the overflow crowd that filled the new performance center at Ladue Horton Watkins High School on Tuesday night.

Ladue’s Choral Director Thomas Lowery couldn’t be happier, watching the seats fill up prior to the start of the performance. “This is a great showcase for our vocal students. They love to perform on the stage here at Ladue High,” he said.

Directing the event was Dr. Jeffrey Carter, native Missourian and chairman of the music department at Webster University. Doctor Carter is a conductor, advisor, composer and teacher of music at Webster University.

The evening was a showcase of talents, mixing and matching many different skill levels, including  6th through 12th grade combined baritone ensemble and a combined 6th through 12th grade treble ensemble.

Other groups that sang together were the combined elementary choral groups from Reed, Conway, Old Bonhomme and Spoede Schools; the Ladue Middle School Chorus and the Ladue High School Choral Singers.

School directors included: Timothy Hearn, Old Bonhomme School; Cynthia Llorico, Spoede School; Thomas Lowery, Ladue High School; Sarah Schwartz, Reed School; Nancy Walther, Conway School; Brandon Williams, Ladue Middle School and Michael Frazier on the piano.

The concert was brilliantly conceptualized. The performances were flawless. The evenng concluded with combinations of choirs from different schools performing.

Enjoy the sights and sounds from the third-annual Ladue District Choral Festival.
