Here's what's happening in and near Ladue, Clayton and University City.

Monday, Feb. 20.
- Schools, federal, state and local offices will be closed on Monday for President’s Day, as will many banks, the financial markets, libraries and post offices.
- In Clayton, the St. Louis Artists Guild’s Photography Section will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday. The cost is free. For more information, email chairman David Coblitz at Dcoblitz@coblitzphotographicarts.com.
- Also in Clayton, Shaw Park Ice Rink is holding a Family Fun Day from noon to 4 p.m.. Admission is $3, and you get free skate rental, games and treats. For more information, visit the City of Clayton’s website.

- Reed Elementary in Ladue will hold kindergarten screenings all week, beginning on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you’re the parent of an incoming Reed Elementary kindergartener, you can get more information by calling the school at 314-991-1456 or at the Ladue School district’s website.
- The University City Public Library’s Readings in History Book Group will hold a discussion of author Stacy Schiff’s book, Cleopatra: A Life, on Wednesday at 7 p.m. You can also purchase next month’s selection at the meeting. - As they return to school after a long weekend, students at MICDS in Ladue will begin their third trimester on Tuesday.
- The City of Clayton will hold a Plan Commission and Architectural review on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. For more information, visit the city’s website.
- The St. Louis County Library Headquarters in Ladue will hold a class called Intro to Fold3.com (formerly Footnote.com) and HeritageQuestOnline.com Databases on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Students will learn to search census, books, periodicals and government documents. Wednesday, Feb. 22.
- Get your art fix in Clayton on Wednesday at the Gateway Gallery, where artist Vic Barr’s woodworking skills will be on display in his exhibit called Under Construction. The exhibit will also be available throughout the week. There will be a free opening reception on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. For more information, visit the gallery’s website.
- In Ladue, John Burroughs School will host its annual blood drive, sponsored by the American Red Cross, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday. If you’re healthy, at least 110 pounds and 17 or older, you can donate. Parents and students are invited to participate. - Does someone you know need help learning how to use a computer? The University City Public Library is holding an Intro to Computers class on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. The beginner-level class is free and doesn’t require registration. For more information, visit the library’s website.
Thursday, Feb. 23.

- Have you seen the Infestations/Contemplations exhibit at University City Public Library yet? If not, you’ll want to do it soon. The free exhibit is open on Thursday, but it will close on Tuesday, Feb. 28, so see it while you can.
- In Ladue, the John Burroughs School Players are presenting Rodgers and Hart’s Babes in Arms on Thursday at 8 p.m. The show will also run Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. For more information, visit the John Burroughs website.

Friday, Feb. 24.
- In University City, you can attend a special Storytime for Grownups on Friday at noon at the University City Public Library, where LaRita Wright will share stories in honor of Black History Month. Bring your own lunch, and the library will provide drinks and dessert. For more information, visit the library’s website.
- If you’ve got a preschooler, check out Friday Morning Storytime with Trish at Barnes & Noble in Ladue on Friday at 10 a.m. Trish will present Maisy’s Amazing Big Book of Learning.
- In Frontenac, students at St. Joseph’s Academy have the day off on Friday for a faculty in-service day.
Saturday, Feb. 25.
- Do you love Led Zeppelin? If so, you’ll want to hit The Pageant on University City for Celebration Day: A Tribute to Led Zeppelin. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8. This show is open to all ages, but the balcony is reserved for those over 21. Tickets start at $17.50, and there’s a $2 surcharge at the door for minors. - In Ladue, Conway Elementary will hold an auction and dinner on Saturday, selling items donated by local businesses and families. For details, contact Conway Elementary at 314-993-2878.
- St. Joseph’s Academy in Frontenac will also hold an auction on Saturday after its 4:30 p.m. mass. Students and parents are invited to attend.
- The City of Clayton’s fire department is holding Family Movie Night at the Clayton Firehouse on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. There will be free popcorn, and you can purchase soda. Sunday, Feb. 26.
- Feeling crafty? The Craft Alliance in U. City is holding a special workshop on Sunday called Image on Cloth, during which fiber artist Luanne Riimel will offer insight on how to work with photographic images on a larger scale. Knowledge of Photoshop is required. Tuition is $80 for non-members, $72 for members. There’s a $30 materials fee, and online registration must be completed no less than three days before the event.
