Normandy No Match for Ladue As Rams Rack Up 44 Unanswered Points

Deavin Edwards tacks on three more TDs as the Rams trample Normandy, 51-7

The Normandy Vikings proudly hang three banners at their stadium, marking the Suburban East championships of 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Ladue won that title last year, and the Rams are well on their way to a repeat with conference wins over McCluer Berkeley-South, Jennings and, now, Normandy.

The Rams handed Normandy a running clock late in the third quarter with a resounding 51-7 powdering. After sophomore Eric Stuber toed a 25-yard field goal in the first quarter, and Jason Lewis scampered 55 yards on the ensuing first play from the line of scrimmage for a momentary Normandy 7-3 lead, it was all Rams the rest of the way.

Deavin Edwards, who tallied four TDs against Jennings, tacked on three more Saturday on nifty runs of 23, 21 and 27. Senior quarterback Brandon Carr was in good form, throwing a 31-yard strike to Chase Lambie and a 23-yarder to Jehu Chesson, his second TD grab of the season.

Michael Horton-Loftin rambled three yards for a score and senior defensive back Daylen Dean scampered 18 yards off a pick of Normandy's quarterback Moses Larkin.

Edwards rushed 21 times for 245 yards and two scores. Carr connected on 13 passes for 176 yards and two TDs.

"We kept the ball verticle, we played a good game. We have homecoming next with Affton then we will have the battle of Warson Road with MICDS," said an obviously pleased coach Mike Tarpey.
