Morgan and Maddie Stock Opt for Mizzou

Dynamic Twins Share Their Insight With Patch Teen Writer.

For two excellent basketball players like Maddie and Morgan Stock, playing basketball in college has always been a top priority. However, choosing where to go and weighing out the options is another process in itself.

According to stlhighschoolsports.com, Morgan and Maddie combined this season for a total of 861 points. Maddie finished first overall as the area’s top three point shooter with 90 shots made, and Morgan placed second as a top area free throw shooter with an 87.3 percent completion rate. There’s no doubt that these girls have a promising future at the University of Missouri, the school they have chosen to go to together.

Being able to play together in college was the most important thing for the Stocks. “We have played together for so long that not playing together in college would be weird. We are more successful when we are with each other on the court, and we are happy we found a school where we can do this,” says Morgan.

Another factor that the twins took into consideration was their family and friends. “Our family has always been our biggest support group. We don’t want our family and friends to have to travel far to see us play. Mizzou gives them all the perfect opportunity to come watch us,” says Maddie.

Both girls only had great things to say about the Mizzou women’s basketball coach, Robin Pingeton. “We love what Coach P does in the program. We’ve seen the way she coaches and we both believe that she will help us to become better players,” says Maddie. The girls also shared that they had a chance to talk to the Mizzou women basketball players and that their helpfulness in answering their questions made the decision that much easier.

Although Morgan and Maddie are very happy with their decision, Mizzou was not their only option. “Both of us did have a few other schools in mind. We kept all of our options open for about a year, but after a lot of thought we both knew Mizzou is where we felt most comfortable,” says Morgan.

With only one season left at St.Joe’s, the student body will hate to see their star basketball players go, but everyone is excited to see them succeed as Mizzou Tigers.
