Midway Report for the Area Soccer Teams

St. Joe, MICDS and Ladue playing strong. Villa and Burroughs just getting going.

We’ve reached the midway point of the high school soccer team, so time to look at the results.

St. Joseph’s Academy (7-1)

The weather prevailed, for a change, and the Angels won the Green Division of the St. Louis Classic (sponsored by St. Joe) at the Lou Fusz soccer complex over the weekend.

The Angels defeated Cedarburg, WI 5-1, routed Parkway South 6-0 Saturday and won Friday night over Shawnee Mission East, KS 2-0.

This was a big weekend for scorers Haley Kavanaugh and Kaley Nieters (candidate for Patch MVP this week).

Angels defender Nina Simon suffered an apparent head injury in the Parkway South game, and might be sidelined for some time.

This week, the Angels go to Cor Jesu Wednesday, host Visitation Academy Thursday and then host Blue Valley West (Kansas) Saturday.

MICDS (10-0)

Off to the best start in school history, the Rams finished the week Friday polishing off St. Charles West, 3-0. Last week, the Rams also beat Notre Dame 3-0; Principia 3-0, and Burroughs 4-0.

Klasey Medelberg is leading the scoring with 10 goals, 6 assists for 26 points. Claire Ringenberg has 24 points and Caroline Ringenberg 23. “We look a little tired, we’ve played a lot of games in a short stretch,” said their coach Michael Black.

MICDS is at Lutheran South Tuesday and hosts Villa Duchesne Thursday.

Ladue (9-2)

The Rams suffered only their second loss of the season Friday afternoon, losing to visiting Westminster Christian Academy 2-0. The only other loss came March 23, 1-0 at Quincy, IL.

Natasha Medler continues to lead the Rams with 9 goals, 11 assists for 29 points.

Goal keeper Fran Shannon is within one shutout of a school record, allowing just 0.59 points per match.

Coach Dave Aronberg things they will turn it around this week.

The Rams get some time off, then host U. City Friday and go to Ritenour Saturday.

Villa Duchesne (3-2)

Tim Twellman’s team is struggling. Kaitlyn Springer leads the Saints with 4 goals and 8 points. Keeper Sydney Miller is solid with a 2-0 record and a 1.38 points per game allowed mark.

The Saints are at Burroughs Tuesday, host MICDS Thursday then go to Lutheran North Friday.

John Burroughs (2-3).

Alan Trzecki’s team is young and inexperienced. They lost to MICDS 4-nil.

Freshman goal leeper Evie Ogeslby (1.75 points per game allowed) is learning her way around the nets. Zoe Smith and Kate Koby have 2 goals apiece.

Tuesday, the Bombers host Villa then Thursday travel to Crossroads.
