MICDS Students Help Feed The Hungry For Thanksgiving

More than 600 students will participate in the food drive, one of the largest during Thanksgiving.

On Monday morning, more than 600 students from all grades at MICDS will participate in a food drive for the St. Louis Food Bank.

Students will form a “Turkey Train” assembly, forming a line that will extend from one end of the school to the other. There, students will pass donated turkeys and other food items hand over hand to a St. Louis Food Bank truck.

During a similar event last year, students handed 7,907 pounds of frozen turkey and 3,111 pounds of  nonperishable food items. The food was enough to provide 8,814 meals for those in need.

The event is one of the largest donations of food to the St. Louis Food Bank during Thanksgiving, according to a press release. All the food is donated by MICDS students, parents, faculty and staff.
