Big Story of the Week: 155 seniors graduate from MICDS

This group is has unlimited talents in academics, athletics, arts, music and on and on.

The MICDS Class of 2012 has already begun to scatter to the four corners of the Universe. This obviously, is the big story of the week.

Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School (MICDS)
awarded diplomas to 155 students during annual commencement exercises on Tuesday, June 5, held at the McDonnell Athletic Center on the MICDS campus.

Students received their diplomas from Stuart Campbell, chairman of the School’s Board of Trustees, Lisa Lyle, Head of School, and Scott Small, Head of Upper School. Students were presented for graduation by Nicole Trueman, Dean of the Class of 2012.

The commencement address was given by Carla Federman, Upper School History teacher, and Lily Reed, a member of the Class of 2012, offered student remarks. Both speakers were selected by the graduating seniors.

Valedictorian for the MICDS Class of 2012 is Gowri Kalugotla, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Shivaram Kalugotla of Creve Coeur. Katherine Lin, daughter of Dr. Tai Lin and Dr. Yuh-Ling Lu of Town and Country, was named salutatorian. Kalugotla was also named the recipient of the Senior Spirit of Learning Award.

  • Thomas Militello – The Baur Athletic Award
  • Hallie Miller – The Wood Humanitarian Award
  • Katherine Moore – The Benecke Honor Award
  • DeAnna Pope – The Excellence in the Arts Award
  • Jacqueline Schechter – The Nash Poetry Award
  • Corthay Schock – The Guilliams Creative Writing Award
  • Campbell Torchin – The Burlingame Leadership in Athletics Award
  • Kevin Werner – The Kalish History Award
