Leads all of Mid States Hockey in scoring with 24 goals.

Patch. Com: How is your season going?

Matt Myer: It has been a really good season. I’ve had a lot of fun and the team has been awesome. We have grown a lot as a team, and it’s really nice to see some of the younger guys on the team step up and play big roles for us.

We keep getting better with every game and we keep moving forward as a team. We have been playing a lot of good hockey, and now that were into the playoffs everything is looking good for us.

Patch: What is the favorite thing you like about being on your team?

MM: Our team has multiple personalities and I always find myself laughing at something or someone. Our team gets along really well and it is easy to be around each other on and off the ice. We support each other and our team always has a positive attitude. Our team has really great chemistry on the ice.

I know whenever I’m on the ice with my line I can count on Brandon (Klar) and Peter (Condie) to do the right things and we work really well together.

Patch: Comment on any special accomplishments this season so far.

MM: We won our division and we were ranked 7th in the seeding for the Wickenheiser Cup. As a team we finished with a winning record.

I personally have had the best season of my high school career so far statistically, but that wouldn’t have happened without my line mates Brandon Klar and Peter Condie. I owe everything my teammates because they have helped me so much this season.

Patch: Which athlete do you admire the most, and why?

MM: I’d have to say David Backes of the St. Louis Blues. I have always admired his work ethic and on ice play. He plays tough and is a leader on the ice. He is definitely someone I have seen as a role model while growing up and playing hockey.

Patch: What is your favorite tune in your I-Pod these days?

MM: I listen to a lot of country music, so my iPod is usually playing something from Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, or Zac Brown Band.
