Logos School Receives $25,000 from the Walmart Foundation for Scholarships

Donation to Support Scholarships for At-Risk Students, Grades 6-12.

Logos School recently received a $25,000 contribution to assist with scholarships for at-risk students. The grant – which was given to the non-profit organization through the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program – will work to help give more adolescents an opportunity to receive their high school diploma and to become successful, problem-solving young adults.

“Logos School is very grateful to Walmart for providing the continued opportunity to serve adolescents and give them a more hopeful tomorrow.” said Kathy Boyd Fenger, Head of Logos School.

Founded in 1970, Logos School originally began as a way for high school students to achieve their GED. Logos is a fully accredited middle and high school. The program encompasses grades 6 thru 12, and, in addition to a high school diploma, helps adolescents gain acceptance and a promising future. During the 40+ year history of the school, more than 1,600 at-risk adolescents have received their high school diploma from Logos School, with many more successfully mainstreaming back to their traditional schools.  Of those who graduate from Logos, more than 90 percent have gone on to college with a combined average ACT score of 27.5. “The Walmart Foundation is very pleased to be supporting Logos School, and are committed to helping those in need in the communities where we serve,” said Glenda Fleming Willis, Walmart’s regional general manager. “Through this grant, we are hopeful that more at-risk adolescents can benefit from Logos School’s exceptional programs.”
