Local National Merit Scholarship Winners Announced

Recipients come from Ladue High, Burroughs and MICDS locally.

The National Merit Scholarship Corp. just released the second group of high school seniors who have been awarded scholarships this year.

About 2,500 seniors nationwide were chosen to receive the $2,500 awards. Selection was based on academic record, standardized test scores, contributions in leadership and community service activities, an essay and a recommendation from a high school official.

The first group of scholarships were awarded last month to about 1,000 students. The 4,800 winners of the college-sponsored Merit Scholarships will be announced later this year.
