Ladue Sticks the Wood to Affton 48-0

Rams rack up big homecoming victory. Next is Duchesne Thursday night.

Before the homecoming dance begins and all the hoopla, the football team needs to take care of its business.

Deavin Edwards galloped for TD runs of 39 twice and five yards and Ladue smothered 0-5 Affton, 48-0 for a homecoming victory. Edwards has 10 TDs the past three weeks. Ladue is 4-2, notching four conference victories in a row.

It wasn't pretty or artistic. "We got off to a slow start and made lots of mistakes in the first half," said coach Mike Tarpey. "We have to start out better next week," he said.

The Rams have a precious three days to get ready for a Thursday night district opener at St. Charles Duchesne Thursday. "It is important that our kids be focused and ready for Duchesne," said Tarpey.

The numbers don't lie. Edwards picked up 229 yards rushing on 11 attempts. the Rams had 303 total yards on the ground. Brandon Carr, senior quarterback was 8 of 16 passing for 86 yards and one TD pass. Michael Horton-Loftin scored on a 3 yard run and had an excellent game on defense from his linebacker position. "Our defense performed well and so too did our defensive line by commitee," said Tarpey.

In the third quarter, Jehu Chesson blocked an Affton punt and Chase Lambie fell onto it for a TD.

The homecoming party was on.
