Ladue Soccer Blanks Principia for 5th Win This Spring

Freshman Hayden Hunt comes through with 2 big goals; veteran Natasha Medler has 2 assists.

Editor's note: The Ladue girls won last night, 2-0 at Parkway North, upping the record to 6-1 this season.

The Ladue soccer team proved there are two distinct halves to a game. Rams coach Dave Aronberg even conceded his team was out played a bit by the visiting Principia Panthers on Monday afternoon.

On a cold-windy day, the Rams got red-hot in the final half, and beat Principia 3-0, en route to a 5-1 start to the season. “I think our girls are stating to believe in the potential greatness of this team,” said Aronberg.

Ladue opened with a resounding 17-0 win over Normandy, then claimed two of three games in the Quincy Invitational a week ago. Principia is a major prize. They were state runners up last spring.

Ladue is finding great depth with this team, sprinkling in freshmen and sophomores.

Freshman Hayden Hunt scored twice for the Rams, her first career goals and Hannah Harpole recorded her first goal of the year also. Ladue is three deep at goal keeper. Danielle Thompson, sophomore stopped 10 shots and recorded the shutout.

Natasha Medler was the difference maker in the second half, assisting on two of the goals. Freshman Lizzy Puyo had the other assist.

Today (Wednesday) the Rams travel to Jennings, then play at Lutheran South on Friday and host Affton next Tuesday.

I”m amazed by our start to the season. We were only able to get two outdoor practices before our first game. I thought the girls maximized their training time indoors though, and we are seeing some of that hard work pay off in our games,” said Aronberg.
