Ladue's Senior Max Schindler
 Places Third in U.S. Math Competition

Will compete in Manchester England this coming July.

 

Information was provided by the communications department of the Ladue School District.


Max Schindler a senior at Ladue High School placed third, out of all students in the United States, in the North American Computational Linguistics grueling five-hour qualification test.

Schindler, and the other three members of the U.S. team, will head to Manchester, England, in July 2013 for the international competition.  Schindler is believed to be the first in the history of Ladue Horton Watkins High School to earn a position on the U.S. team for any International Olympiad.

The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the World Championship Mathematics Competition for high school students and is held annually in a different country.

The first IMO was held in 1959 in Romania, with 7 countries participating. It has gradually expanded to over 100 countries from 5 continents.

The IMO Advisory Board ensures the competition takes place each year and that each host country observes the regulations and traditions of the IMO.
