Ladue Resident Stan Musial Honored at Field Day By Villa Duchesne

One Thousand Students Recognize Medal of Freedom Honor Awardee.

Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School honored St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Famer Stan Musial at the school’s field day on May 13. Stan Musial and his family were greeted by more than 1,000 students, faculty, staff, and parents at the closing ceremonies. The school community celebrated the awarding of the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the Hall of Famer in February.

The Medal of Freedom is the nation’s highest civilian honor and bestowed to individuals who have made contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors. Students wore special shirts sporting the number 6 in honor of Stan the Man’s jersey number retired by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1963.

Stan Musial is a longstanding member of the Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School community. Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School is a Catholic school in the Sacred Heart tradition, educating young women grades 7-12 and boys and girls age 3-grade 6.
