Ladue High Has Major Influence With the St. Louis Rowing Club

Locals heading off or are already in major collegiate programs.

This has been a banner year for the St. Louis Rowing Club.

The SLRC, as it had seven boats qualify for the junior national championships and has added two more Ivy League recruits to its membership.

Ladue’s B.J. Francis will row for Princeton in the fall. He helped Team USA finish fifth in the Junior World Championships in Bulgaria this summer.

Isabella Benduski, also a senior at Ladue, will attend Harvard. She and her boat mates Paige Hibbard (Ladue), Abby Lane (Incarnate Word), Maggie Berra (Visitation), and Madi Hovis (MICDS) took first in their race at Head of the Hooch, the second largest regatta in the nation.

Francis and teammate Charlie Lebens, a junior at Whitfield, won gold there as well.

Other members of the SLRC that have committed to row at college include Katherine Young (Kansas), Hannah Kloppenburg, of Ladue High (Oklahoma) and Mary Kate Keenoy (Duquesne). Member Laura Bleeke is currently a freshman at Harvard.
