Ladue, Burroughs Students Recognized with National Merit Scholarships

More than 20 local students among 1,700 additional national winners.

More than 20 local students from a wide variety of high schools were named today as additional National Merit Scholarship winners, as announced by the National Merit Scholarship Corp.

Initially, 8,300 high school students are receiving scholarships worth nearly $35 million through the program.

They join more than 2,900 college-sponsored award recipients who were recognized in May. The awards are between $500 and $2,000 a year to up to four years.

The local recipients are from John Burroughs: Keaton Armentrout (Washington University), Margaret Chapman (Tufts University), Henry Fremont (Macalester College), Jacob Mulcahy (University of Chicago), and Elise Riley (Emory College).

Ladue Horton Watkins: Saya Jacob (Northwestern), Noah Sondov-Gold (Northwestern) and Christie Thompson (Harvey Mudd College).
