Announced for Iowa State, this junior forward leads St. Joe in scoring and assists.

Kaley Nieters is this week's Ladue-Frontenac-Olivette MVP "Athlete of the Week." She got great voting support from the St. Joseph's Academy school community.

Kaley Nieters: I think our season is off to a great start.  We have been coming out firing, scoring early and often and not allowing many.  I believe that everyone on my team has something to contribute and we have worked well as a unit.

I hope our success continues and I am excited for the rest of this season because I think we are going to go far.

Patch: What is the favorite thing you like about being on your team?

KN: I love the team chemistry.  We are all really close and are there for each other on and off the field.  We are able to joke around occasionally at games and practices but also know when its time to get the job done.

Patch: Comment on any special accomplishments this season so far.

KN: As a team I believe we have gotten off to a great start. Our offense is able to work well off each other and score unselfish goals. Our defense has stayed solid and in some cases has been able to be apart of the offense and score some game winning goals.

Last but not least, our goalies have made some amazing saves that keep us in games and encourage us to work harder.

Patch: Which athlete do you admire the most, and why?

KN: I admire Alex Morgan because she plays my position and does a phenomenal job at it. She is the go to girl when her team needs a goal and never gives up.  Her speed and knowledge of the game make her an unstoppable player.

Patch: What is your favorite tune in your I-Pod these days?

KN: I have a lot of favorite songs but would I have to say the one that I listen to the most right now is "Battle Scars" by Guy Sebastian.  It is a really good pump up song.

Previous winners:

Anna Nelson, Ladue track & field

Klasey Medelberg, MICDS soccer

The next ballot comes out Monday, and voting goes until 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Did you know, you can nominate any athlete, male or female for the MVP "Athlete of the Week." Just do so in the comments section or email: james.baer@patch.com.
