Homecoming at Ladue; Burroughs at MICDS Football All This Weekend

Host of activities as Ladue alumni return to campus Friday and Saturday.

Ladue celebrates homecoming 2012 this weekend. And it should be very special to a number of alumni. The second class of distinguished alumni will be honored at a gala special Friday night, 7 p.m. in the new Performing Arts Center at Ladue Horton Watkins High School.

The homecoming football game features the visiting Normandy Vikings and the Ladue Rams on the football field at 1 p.m. The classes of 1962, ’72 and ’82 will march onto the field at halftime. For the class of 1962, this is their 50th reunion and more than half of that class is expected to return for weekend long activities. Highlights include a reception at the Missouri Athletic Club West facility Friday night and a dinner-dance at Algonquin Country Club Saturday night.

The long-gone tradition of a homecoming parade returns this year. The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ladue Middle School and travels down Conway Road to the high school on Warson Road.

Distinguished alumni, clubs and activities will be represented in the parade and the pep band will greet the revelers at the end of the route.

The Dads Club is serving lunch to the many visitors.

Saturday night concludes with the Ladue Homecoming Dance in the Ramming Gym at the high school. The home coming court will be revealed Friday night and the king and queen will be crowned at 10 p.m. Saturday night.

Burroughs and MICDS clash this weekend too

This same weekend, the big game between private schools is unbeaten (3-0) John Burroughs at MICDS (1-2) at 2 p.m. That game brings back a huge throng of alumni from both schools.

Early in the morning, MICDS sponsors the annual run through the community. Ladue police advises that streets will be shut during the run and during the brief Ladue High parade.

Here’s the run route:

The run begins from John Burroughs north on Price Road and heads over to MICDS.

The run begins at 8 a.m. and is expected to last no longer than 1 1/2 hours, but lane restrictions will begin around 7 a.m. Lane restrictions during the event are as follows:

The southbound lane of Price Road will be closed. All traffic will be one way, northbound on Price road. The eastbound lane of Ladue Road will be closed. All traffic will be routed one way westbound on Ladue Road.

A short section of the southbound lane of North Warson Rd will be closed, however two way traffic will be monitored by officers. Motorist should expect delays in these areas during the run, and exercise caution when traveling near the runners.
