Golden: 17 Ladue-Frontenac Swim All Stars Dominate 2012 Field

Swimmers from MICDS, Villa, St. Joe, Ladue and Burroughs have all-star performances at the state meet.

Drum roll please-this is the Ladue-Frontenac All-Star swim team for 2012.

The criteria was pretty straight forward and direct. Any swimmer who made top 8 in the state championships at the Rec Plex in St. Peters in swimming or diving, in individual or a relay is an all star.

Seventeen local swimmers made this prestigious list. A number are returners from last year’s first recognized class.

Here’s the breakdown by school.

Mary Institute and Country Day School

The Rams, with seven team members head up the class of 2012. MICDS had the highest finish of any St. Louis team in the meet with 160 points; led only by the champs Columbia Rock Bridge with 213 and Springfield Glendale with 182.

Senior Annie Goessling led the Rams to their third-place finish. Goessling, headed to the University of North Carolina won the 100 yard breast stroke title (1:05.51), was second in the 200 yard individual medley (2;04,74), and anchored the third place 400 yard freestyle relay (3:35.55), joined by Trey Ross, Masha Pokokshik and Christine Jackson.

Another school operating without a swimming pool, the Angels stunned the field by winning the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:38.22. That foursome was senior Jenna Osterholt, freshman Grayson Ram, sophomore Grace Stiegemeyer and senior Julia Herbig.

Herbig tied Boldt for fifth in the 50 yard freestyle in 24.11.
