  • September 23:  Advocating For Your Child Without Interfering   As parents it is natural to want to help and support our children, yet we may be denying them the ability to advocate for themselves. Learning how to really listen to our children will help parents and children navigate the world.
  • September 30: Empathy and Respect: The Core of the Parent/Child Relationship   Learning how to have healthy empathy for our children will allow them to process their feelings and make good decisions. Respecting a child's thoughts, ideas and opinions is not the same as letting them be in charge.  Children need to feel respected before they can truly respect others.

Leader: Peggy Fiala is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from the University of Missouri–St. Louis.  She is a graduate of The St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute’s two-year Child Development Program, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Missouri–Columbia.
