CBC And Ladue Rematch In Game Of January 11

By virtue of Ladue’s 45-38 win over Roosevelt in the quarterfinals of the Class 5 District 2 game at St. Louis U. High, the Rams earn a rematch with a talented CBC team.

The Cadets are coached by Bob McCormack who began his coaching/teaching career at Ladue.

The game is tonight at 7 p.m. at the Danis Field House at SLUH. The winner will advance to the championship of the SLUH/Webster Groves semifinal game.

On January 11, CBC powdered Ladue 78-57.

Coach Chad Anderson of Ladue vows this will be different.

We are looking forward to the challenge of playing CBC a second time. Our kids are looking forward to the opportunity.  We have a lot of respect for what CBC has done this year, but we are going to have a good game plan.

If our kids execute the game plan, we will have a chance to win.  The last time we played CBC, we only played two quarters."

Ladue took a hit when junior center 6-foot-8 Austin DaGue broke his arm in a pickup game last weekend. He is sidelined the rest of the season.

"In order for us to win this time, we have to play and compete for four quarters.  We need to do a better job of keeping them off the glass this time around, handle their trapping defense without turning the ball over, and eliminate their transition game.  We learned a lot the last time we played them and have played well since then.  It will need to be a complete team effort," said Anderson.

The game will be one of contrast in style. While CBC loves to run, Ladue will be more deliberate with the ball.

The Cadets are 16-10, playing in the murderous MCC Conference with a 4-4 mark. They are led by Jordan Barnett (14.3 points per game) and Patrick McCaw (10.6).

Ladue’s top scorer is their smallest player sophomore 5-foot-6 guard Cornell Johnston who has heated it up for a 16.7 average.

In the win over Roosevelt Monday, senior guard Ryan Dean fouled out early in the second half. He will have to play more under control against the Cadets.

Sophomore Andrew Maddock has stepped up his game, chipping in 8 points per contest.

Ladue is 19-8, heading into the semifinal match.

Anderson vows it will be different this time.

The winner of this game will be in Friday’s 7 p.m. title game versus either Webster Groves or the host Junior Billikens.
