Caroline Militello: MVP Week No. 5

Sophomore star leads Rams in all categories in a 16-7-0 season.

Sophomore soccer star, center/midfielder Caroline Militello of MICDS is the MVP for Week No. 5. Her teammates give her a lot of credit. “She makes sure all of her teammates are involved, and get scoring chances,” said Klasey Medelberg.

Militello has been pounding the back of opponents nets in a 16-7-0 Rams season. She has 23 goals, 25 assists for 71 points and 6 game winning goals. Coach Michael Black would be hard pressed without this steady performer in his lineup.

The Rams open district play Monday at Westminster Christian Academy facing Metro rival Villa Duchesne in this year’s rematch. Villa just won the title over the Rams 1-0 in a fiercly fought game recently.

Militello is a steady performer during the winter on the basketball team.

Patch caught up to her for a quick one on one session:

What do you like best about playing for your team.

My teammates.  We have a very young team but with a nice balance of juniors and seniors. I also like that  more and more MICDS girls are playing  club soccer, too. I think the program is only going to get better.

How is your team doing this year?

We are doing pretty well (16-7-0).  We've scored a lot of goals this year.  Many of our losses  have been by just one goal (Nerinx, Webster, and Villa, for example).

What other sports do you play.

Basketball

What is your favorite tune on your iPod.

I have a lot of country music, but my favorite is probably Luke Bryan.

Militello had 44 votes (41 percent) and Charlotte Martin, John Burroughs lacrosse had 37 votes (35 percent). Other votes went to Megan Hillemann, Villa Duchesne soccer 15 votes; Natasha Medler, Ladue soccer 6 votes, and Chris Shirley, Ladue water polo, 3 votes.

Previous MVPs are: Trey Baur, MICDS baseball, Greg Gannon, Ladue baseball, Foster Bundy, MICDS lacrosse and Katie Prosperi, St. Joe lacrosse.

Nominations for week No. 6 will be in order Monday morning. Any athlete in the Ladue-Frontenac Patch can be placed in nomination. Voting is Wednesday and Thursday, with the next winner announced this coming Saturday.
