Burroughs Returns to the Field; Ladue Away, MICDS Home, all Saturday

Bombers will get tested by Clayton. Ladue looks to win 5th in 6 tries.

All the local teams are playing on Saturday. Ladue, for one doesn’t much care for that. The Rams close out the regular football season at Fort Zumwalt North Saturday then host Jennings October 20.

Here’s a run at this weekend games.

Ladue (5-2) at Fort Zumwalt North (3-4) Saturday, 1 p.m.

The Rams are playing with a lot of confidence, winning 4 of the last 5 games. The 28-21 win at Clayton was big. Marcellis Wade is coming into his own as a rusher,. He has 10 TDs and 534 yards on the ground. The attack is multiple. Shawn Whitley has rushed for 591 yards and 5 TDs.

Matt Hooper can throw the ball and his favorite targets are Adehkeem Brown, Sam Glancy and Chase Lambie.

Hooper, the junior has completed 47 percent of his passes and has 5 TDs.

Defensively, Chris Boudoures leads everyone with 53 tackles and Brown has 45.

Quarterback Zac Hilliard has completed 50 percent of his efforts for 828 yards and 7 TDs with 4 interceptions for the Zumwalt Panthers. Deon Lewis has rushed for 425 yards and Colin Mueller has 28 receptions and 3 TDs.

Clayton (4-2) at John Burroughs (6-0) Saturday, 1 p.m.

The Bombers are tested and rested. They were idle last week when their opponent Imagine Prep went out of business and no replacement could be found.

Ezekiel Elliott leads the region in TDs with 25 and has 1,051 yards rushing, 14.8 yards per carry. He should draw a convoy of defenders Saturday.

Gus Frerotte likes to mix it up. Nick Duncan, junior is a 66 percent passer with 600 yards and 7 TDs and just 1 interception. He can throw to Peter Schnuck, 198 yards and 3 TDs or Foye Oluokun 9 catches, 174 yards and 2 TDs.

Defensively, Christian Bledsoe has developed into a major prospect. He has 68 tackles including 16 solos in the Westminster win.

Defensive back Trevor Bain has 37 tackles.

Clayton is looking for a bounce back. Tyler Walker is the real deal, rushing for 658 yards and 9 TDs this year. Jake Brown, sophomore quarterback is emerging as a star. He’s a 46 percent passer with 896 yards, 8 TDs and 3 interceptions. Ladue had him running for his life.

St. Dominic (7-0) at  MICDS (1-6) Saturday, 1 p.m.

This is a far cry for the Rams who won 14 of 15 games a year ago, taking second place in the Show Me Bowl to Webb City.

The Rams are learning on the fly. Veteran Denzell Conway has rushed for 10 TDs and 691 yards (7.5 yards per carry).

Quarterback Shane Combs has completed 37.5 percent of his passes for 287 yards and 3 TDs. Alim Muhammad has 270 yards in receptions and3 TDs.

Don’t expect this to be the battle of the punters. Conway is averaging 25 yards per punt and Austin Merz of St. Dominic is slightly better at 26.43 yards per kick.

In a limited offense, the Crusaders quarterback Sean Corrigan has completed 57 percent of his passes (just 23 of 40) for 3 TDs with 3 interceptions.

Jake Wilmes and Austin Winchester have combined for more than 1,000 yards. Wilmes has run for 694 yards and 11 TDs while Winchester has 487 yards and 5 TDs.
