Burroughs Potpourri 40 Plus Years and Going Strong

Annual garage sale nets all kinds of funds for educational components of JBS.

Everyone at John Burroughs School looks forward to the annual Potpourri garage sale. Judging from the massive parking jam on all lots on campus, this year was another gigantic success. No one knows the exact count, but the event eclipses at least 40 years.

Every inch of space in the Burroughs field house and atrium was filled with tables displaying everything from household items to furniture to clothing, books, childrens toys and the like.

The best part, anything not claimed by closing time is divided up among three to four local charities who take away any unclaimed items. Generally, there are few items left after hords of shoppers make Burroughs their annual springtime stop.

Teachers are able to benefit from a pool of at least $50,000 to answer items on their wish lists that don't make the budget.
