Burroughs at Westminster Highlights This Week's Gridiron Schedule

Ladue goes to Affton tonight; MICDS travels to Lutheran North Saturday.

Now things get interesting for the Ladue-Frontenac-Olivette area football teams.

Ladue goes to Affton tonight, 7 p.m. kickoff and the Cougars have just one win. The (5-0) Burroughs Bombers go into the meat grinder portion of their schedule with a 1 p.m. kickoff Saturday at Westminster Christian Academy. Reeling MICDS meets Lutheran North Saturday at their place, kickoff is 1 p.m.

Here’s a sneak peak at the weekend action:

(3-2) Ladue at (1-4) Affton, Friday, 7 p.m.

Mike Tarpey has helped the Rams find their mo jo. After getting demolished by a gritty McCluer team, the Rams won Home Coming 42-14 over Normandy. The Rams look often to younger players to stand in,

Junior quarterback Matthew Hooper is a 43 percent passes, recording 477 yards, 4 TDs and 5 interceptions.

Running back Marcellis Wade has 337 yards and 5 TDs.

Ladue's coach Mike Tarpey was just happy to see his Rams bounce back from that 42-6 loss to McCluer. "Four turnovers don't help matters. We're just happy we bounced back against Normandy. We are playing a lot of juniors, and our team is feeling good about the way we are progressing," said the coach.

Defensively, two-way stalwart Chris Boudoures (center and linebacker) leads the Rams with 39 tackles.

Ladue has been dominating the Cougars of late.

Defensively, the ring leader is linebacker Christian Bledsoe, 41 tackles, 7 assists, 48 total tackles. Schnuck has 26 tackles and defensive back Trevor Bain has 28 tackles.

All Rams players could say after a 55-7 drubbing by rival John Burroughs is someday, they will be on the winning end of this great series.

One quarterback needs to step up and take over. Shane Combs has passed for 287 yards and 3 TDs, while sub Clayton Buddemeyer is a 57 percent passer in a limited role.
