Ande Siegel, Menea Kefalov Win Prize Money for Themselves and Reed School

Duo to perform at the University of Missouri April 21.

Two ten-year-olds from Reed School in Ladue continue their musical talents in the bigger world of competition.

Ande Siegel and Menea Kefalov took first place recently in the University of Missouri’s creating original music project this spring.

This year’s song, titled “War” is a powerful piece about their perspective on this subject. Ande composed the musical piece, though she never had a formal lesson and Menea accompanied her on the cello.

The girls won a $400 prize and $1,000 for Reed School. They are under the tutelage of their music teacher Sarah Schwartz.

The duo plan on producing a musical video and they will get a chance to perform at the University of Missouri on April 21. Ande performs in musical theater around town while Mean plays piano for the Webster University Department of Music.
