Recently, Melody worked with a couple to plan their wedding reception at Palladium Saint Louis. The bride was especially looking forward to dancing with her father for the traditional father-daughter dance. Just before the wedding, however, the father of the bride became very ill and was hospitalized. He insisted the wedding go on, but the bride never got her father-daughter dance.

A few weeks after the wedding, and after the bride’s father healed, Melody planned a special surprise for the family. One late evening, at the conclusion of another Palladium Saint Louis event which Melody managed, the newlywed couple and their families met at the venue. The bride wore her wedding dress and she anxiously awaited her father’s arrival. The bride’s mother made up a story about forgetting something at Palladium and this was the only time they could meet Melody. Melody had the father’s tuxedo waiting in a dressing room. You can imagine the surprise when the father walked into Palladium and saw his daughter in her wedding dress. Melody directed him to try on his tuxedo, and Melody and her team recreated the first dance moment. The father finally got to dance with his daughter in her wedding dress.

“Melody is very humble,” explained Butler’s Pantry President, Richard Nix, Jr. Butler’s Pantry owns Palladium Saint Louis.  “Melody didn’t tell anyone at Butler’s Pantry what she was doing for the father/daughter. She could have easily flaunted that she was going out of her way for this family, but she never did. Not to mention the fact that Melody had worked a full day, and managed a late event on top of this. She and the team had to clear out and clean Palladium Saint Louis after the initial event, so that everything was perfect for the bride and her father. She continues to exemplify outstanding customer service, something we take great pride in at Butler’s Pantry.”

Melody knew how important it was for this bride and father to have their moment and she did everything possible to make it happen. Of course, Melody would say that none of it was her doing and she would give all the credit to the event staff who helped her clear/clean the space. Everyone loves working with Melody. The event staff was happy to stay late for her.

The St. Louis CVC Hospitality Hero recognition is an honor for both Melody and Butler’s Pantry. This is a great opportunity for Melody to be recognized for going the extra mile, and for Butler’s Pantry to drive home the importance they place on customer service.
