Susan Durbin Resigns from Frontenac Board of Aldermen

Susan Durbin, Alderwoman Ward I in Frontenac made news by resigning her position. According to City Administrator Bob Shelton “she resigned for personal reasons.”

Durbin served on the Frontenac Board of Aldermen for seven years. Mayor Keith Krieg praised her for term of service. “Susan hated public speaking. Though she did not often lead us in discussions, she was a valuable member of the board in the time we really needed that,” said the mayor.

Durbin was quickly replaced byJohn O’Connell, 55, a member of the Ways & Means Committee and a resident of Frontenac for 26 1/2 years. O'Connell will serve out the remaining term of Durbin.

O’Connell recently retired from a career at the Centric Group., a division of Enterprise Rent-A-Car. He plans to devote his time to not-for-profit projects. He is a trustee and the chairman of the foundation for St. Louis Children’s Hospital. He worked for Enterprise for 32 years and has been a key leader in Frontenac’s long-term planning.

In other matters, the board of aldermen approved four bills dealing with city employee benefits including the new pay scale; dental and health insurance and liability insurance for employees and public officials.

The board also approved liquor license renewals for all of the restaurants and other facilities in the city.

Frontenac will have a monthly meeting in July and has canceled the meeting for August.
