Special Election in 83rd District Goes to Tracy McCreery

Olivette Independent knocks off two candidates from Overland.

In a special election held November 8, Olivette resident Tracy McCreery won with an overwhelming total of 1,647 votes. Democratic candidate Jeff O'Connell was second with 1,096 and Republican and Tea Party candidate Patrick Brennan was last with 1,005 votes.

McCreery fills the seat vacated by Jake Zimmerman who was selected the County's first Assessor by vote last April.

McCreery was first introduced to politics serving as an aide in Jefferson City to former Senator Joan Bray who in turn served as her campaign chairman.

The Olivette resident was endorsed by a wide variety of social service organizations including the Women's Political Caucus of Metro St. Louis, MO NARAL, PROMO and former Missouri Governor Bob Holden. Locally, she was indorsed by Zimmerman and present Olivette Mayor Jean Antoine.
