Here's what's happening in and near Ladue, Clayton and University City this week.

Ladue-Frontenac Patch teams up with neighboring Patch sites each week to round up events and happenings in the area. Here are our picks for this week.

Monday, May 14

  • It’s National Police Week!
    • Are you a trekkie? is happening on Monday at 5050 Oakland Ave in St. Louis. The exhibit brings Star Trek artifacts to life. It includes costumes, props and filming models from every Star Trek television series and feature film. Tickets are $17. for more information and to purchase tickets.
    • The Richmond Heights Police & Fire Pension Board will meet on Monday at 7 p.m. at .
    • The City Council will meet on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Tuesday, May 15

  • The ’s Readings in History Book Group will meet on Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a discussion of Amanda Foreman’s A World on Fire: Britain’s Crucial Role in the American Civil War. Everyone is welcome.

Wednesday, May 16

  • Max & Louis Productions presents The New Century, a play offering a series of short vignettes focusing on LGBT and Jewish life in New York. The show will be at and starts at 8 p.m.  Tickets are $30 for adults, and $25 for students and seniors. For more details and to purchase tickets, visit the Max & Louie website. The show runs through Sunday.
  • Lunch Bunch Bingo is happening at on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
  • The University City Board of Adjustment will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Thursday, May 17

  • Tired of fast food? Consider heading to Ladue for the Specialty Dinner Series on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Gourmet offerings from Chef Hutchinson and Chef Susie Judy include a six-course meal with wine available by the glass. Dinner will cost $45 per person. For reservations, call 314-587-2433.
  • Miss the Beatles? The presents The Beatles: The Lost Concert on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Visit the theatre’s website to purchase tickets and for additional information.  
  • The ’s Parks and Rec department is working on a new concept for the , and your help is requested. Whether the rink is renovated or replaced, the city says the intention is to create a facility that can be used throughout the year for more than just skating in winter months. “Your opinions on the update are important to us, so we invite you attend a concept workshop at The Center of Clayton on Thursday, May 17 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm,” the city states on its website.  
  • The City of Richmond Heights’ Board of Adjustment will meet on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. The Plan & Zoning Committee will also meet at 7 p.m.
  • As underclassmen take their final exams on Thursday, graduating seniors will rehearse at 9:30 a.m.

Friday, May 18

  • The is sponsoring a Social Worker Conference at Maryville University in Clayton on Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. If you have questions or need information, you can contact Katie Corrigan at Katie@crisisnurserykids.org.
  • Luther Dickinson and the Wandering will play at Blueberry Hill on Friday at 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster.  Please note: this is a general admission event for ages 21 and up.

Saturday, May 19

  • Saturday is Armed Forces Day.
  • The Gateway Children’s Charity is hosting its annual Summer Kickoff fundraiser on Saturday at the Building Courtyard in Clayton. Guests will enjoy a live band and a silent auction, plus food and drink. Tickets are $100 per person. Visit the Gateway website for additional details and to purchase your tickets.
  • Exclusively Yours will play from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday evening at Jimmy’s Café on the Park in Clayton.
  • BandTogether, LGBTA community Symphonic Concert Band, will perform its annual Pops Concert, including pieces ranging from "Carmen" to "Bohemian Rhapsody." Other selections include songs from "Fiddler on the Roof", "West Side Story" and "The Music Man". The concert will be held at 560 Music Center in University City. Admission is free and the concert is open to the public. There will be a special performance of “Bring It On” in the ballroom at intermission.  
  • University City’s 2012 Movies in the Parks series continues with a showing of Cooley High at Millar Park. The show starts at 7 p.m.
  • The Clayton Farmers’ Market is open for business on Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Straubs’s on Forsyth.
  • It’s time for the Community Paper Shred Event in Richmond Heights. Residents can bring material for shredding to the event at the Delta Gamma Center for Children from 9 a.m. until noon. It’ll cost you $5 per box (any size.) Visit the city’s website for additional information.

Sunday, May 20

  • National Emergency Medical Services Week and National Public Works Week both begin on Sunday.
  • If you’re a fan of classical music played by real musicians, you’re in for a treat on Sunday. The Kingsbury Ensemble will present the six Suites of J.S. Back for solo violoncello, performed by Ken Kulosa. The concert will be played at in Ladue at 2:30 p.m. in three parts with two intermissions. Refreshments will be served.
  • Jim Manley and Mark Friedricks will entertain lunch guests at Jimmy’s Café on the Park in Clayton from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Join the University City Public Library for a three-part discussion series of Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life by Karen Armstrong. These events kick off programming for the library's Building Common Ground: Discussions of Community, Civility and Compassion activities. The conversation will be facilitated by Carolyn Wright from the Aquinas Institute of Theology. All are welcome; registration is recommended.   • Ladue Horton-Watkins High School seniors will graduate on Sunday at 5 p.m.
