Ladue's Government to Wrestle With Sidewalk Issues

Where will the financial support come to connect neighborhoods with walking paths?

There are plenty of issues on the plate of Ladue's mayor and his fellow council members. One of the weightiest issues will be exploring of adding sidewalks to a variety of neighborhoods.

Young families have made appearances in large numbers to urge the city council to vote in expansion of the sidewalk network in Ladue.

Speaker after speaker claimed that Ladue has changed and needs extensions of sidewalks for sustainability issues. Neighbors want to walk to other neighbors homes. Residents want their children to exercise by using sidewalks, all claiming good health issues demands these passageways.

Others who are familiar with the city finances feel sidewalks would be beyond the scope of spending expectations. Most feel real sidewalk expansion would cost millions of dollars.

Other priorities include the proposition to build a new fire station for the city. The city is having to deal with an underfunded pension fund.
