Frontenac Aldermen Bring Two Ordinances Into Compliance

The Frontenac Board of Aldermen tightened up a couple ordinances Tuesday night. By 5-0 vote, the aldermen approved a bill repealing a section and enacting a new section to bring into compliance requirements for height, yard area exceptions dealing with privacy fences.

Fences will not be less than 5 feet tall and not more than 6 feet. Larger existing fences larger, such as solid stockade fences, are grandfathered in in case of destruction and replacement by storms or by automobile damage.

The board, also by a 5-0 vote, enacted an ordinance dealing with conforming terms for members of the Architectural Review Board (ARB). Now, the ARB will have staggered terms in compliance with other boards in the City of Frontenac.

“The major change in this ordinance is the terms served by these board members and the date of their terms,” Mayor Keith Krieg said.

At the same time, the board appointed new members to the boards: Tom Erman, Mike Thaman and Kris Anderson. The board will sort out length of terms at their next scheduled meeting.

Also, the Frontenac board appointed Jim Corrigan and Chris Hyams to the public works board.

Tuesday was also a night to honor and recognize employees. Leesa Ross, a 20-year employee of the city, was presented a certificate from Mayor Krieg for reaching the status of Master City Clerk. This honor comes from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. This group has 10,300 members in the U.S. and Canada.

At the same time, the board agreed to give holiday retention gift cards for all full-time employees of the city. Each employee will receive a $100 gift card, something budgeted and given in previous years.
