BrickTops Gets Final Go Ahead

City of Frontenac Board of Aldermen Give Final Approval for Restaurant Proposal at Plaza Frontenac.

BrickTops Restaurants, Nashville, Tenn. got the go ahead to construct it's proposed 7,500 square foot facility on an outparcel of Plaza Frontenac Shopping Center at 1701 S. Lindbergh Blvd. in Frontenac. The Frontenac Board of Aldermen approved the formal application by a 6-0 vote.

BrickTops made final adjustments per requests from the Planning & Zoning Commission. That included using decorative rubble-stone on the exterior and adding additional windows to enhance the esthetics. The final design will provide similarity to the new planned Panera Bread facility without duplicating the look.

The American bistro restaurant will have outside dining and will seat 200 comfortably inside. BrickTops features a modern, sleek decor with an American cuisine flair, offering wood-fired items such as steaks, rotisserie chicken, fresh seafood daily and a wide range of appetizers and sandwiches too. A public hearing was held prior to adopting of the ordinance to approve the final development plan.

In other business, the Board of Aldermen approved a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with L. Krupp Construction Co. to replace sidewalks on Clayton Road in the amount of $134,650. The existing sidewalks from Spoede to Lindbergh Boulevard will be converted from asphalt to concrete.

The decision was not without some opposition. Alderman John Wynne expressed some concern with sidewalks he deemed almost never used. “I’ve got a little heartburn spending this amount of money on sidewalks so close to traffic and almost never used.” Jeff Wappelhorst, the City’s Public Works Director said concrete would not be negatively effected from freezing and thawing and there would be less tripping hazards with the the new surface. Wappelhorst indicated that $70,000 of the cost was budgeted and that St. Louis County will be picking up the entire expense. The resolution passed 6-0.
