According to a recent article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, backyard chickens will soon be allowed in Frontenac. Aldermen studied the proposal for months, including evaluating how other cities handled the same issue and reportedly voted unanimously last month to allow the fowl on residential properties.

The Post article states that the vote came after hours of discussion and there will be guidelines, including only allowing five chickens per residence and only allowing female chickens.

The new ordinance will not be effective for 90 days, which the Post-Dispatch said will likely allow subdivisions to adopt their own rules on residential chickens.
