News Nearby: Plane Crash Claims Another Life; Critically Injured Wife Dies

The second victim of a plane crash in Maryland Heights on Oct. 24 died Monday afternoon.

Suzanne Hazelton, a passenger in the small-engine plane that crashed into Creve Coeur Lake on Oct. 24, died at SSM DePaul hospital, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Hazelton had been in critical condition since the accident, reportedly on life support. 

Hazelton's husband and pilot of the plane when it crashed, Russell Hazelton, died Oct. 25 from injuries suffered in the plane crash.

The Hazeltons were the only two involved in the crash.

arouund 8:40 p.m. Oct. 25. A witness told Maryland Heights Police they saw the plane go down and heard what sounded like an engine sputtering. 

The witness told police the plane attempted to land on the east bank of the lake but wound up upside down in Creve Coeur Lake, which is less than a mile from Creve Coeur Airport.

When in St. Louis, the Hazeltons lived in the Fairfield neighborhood in Town and Country. Their neighbors tell Patch, Russell was a retired TWA pilot and the couple split their time between St. Louis, Vermont and Pennsylvania.
